Know And Control Your Lawn Weeds

By Jack Greenwood According to Dictionary.com, a weed is any undesirable or troublesome plant that grows profusely where it is not wanted. As you can see, a weed is just a plant that grows in the wrong place. As an example, golf greens are often covered by bentgrass but when it start appearing in your lawn, it is called a weed. Just like any plant, weeds also required nutrients and they would compete with your lawn grasses to get the nutrients they want. In addition, they look totally out of place in your lawn as they have different color, texture and size as your lawn grass. There are generally two main categories of weeds. The broadleaf weeds have wide leaves with veins that radiate out in different direction. Some examples are yarrow, knotweed, and the dandelion. The other type of weeds is narrowleaf weeds which very much like grass and have narrow leaves with parallel veins. Some examples include crabgrass, bentgrass and foxtail. The two categories are subdivided into groups like perennial, biennial, and winter and summer annuals. It is nearly impossible to totally eliminate weeds from your lawn but you can control them such that they are “invisible” to your naked eyes. The key here is to consistently improve your lawn maintenance tasks. Focus on how to make your lawn grow healthier as a healthy lawn will eventually become an unhealthy habitat for weeds. Experiment with different mowing heights to find the one that inhibit weeds growth. Another way is to increase the mowing frequency. Make sure that you apply enough water to your lawn. Too wet or too dry will make the weeds prosper. Aerate the lawn at least once a year but this really depends on the type of soil and grass that you have. All these tasks will help keep your lawn green and control weed growth. The use of herbicides can be effective against weeds but they should be used as a last resort. There are two main types of herbicides — pre-emergence and post-emergence. Pre-emergence herbicides are used to kill germinating seeds before they reach the soil surface. Post-emergence herbicides are used to kill weeds that are already growing. They work best with a spray do that it is easier for the weed leaves to absorb the herbicides. Post-emergence herbicides can be further broken down to selective and non-selective. Selective post-emergence herbicides are usually used to control annual, biennial and perennial broadleaf weeds and are generally not a threat to your lawn grass. However, they can be harmful to trees and flowers. The non-selective herbicides will kill any plants they touched and thus you must be very careful when using the non-selective type. Always read the labels for proper usage instructions when you purchase any herbicides from the nursery shelves. Your best bet against weeds is to cultivate a healthy lawn. Proper watering, sufficient nutrients and regular aeration are the keys to a strong and healthy lawn. When your lawn is strong, it will be able to fight off weeds as well as pests and diseases. You would have won the war against weeds without extra efforts. Jack Greenwood is the webmaster of GreenLawnCareTips.com which provide information on lawn care and weeds control tips. Various Types of Aromatherapy Electric Diffusers

By Lance G.Winslow Potpourri, candles, sprays and even wacky jars called reed diffusers stuffed with weeds are just a few of the many ways to make a room smell terrific. Those who like essential oils may have trouble finding ways to let the oil scent fill a desired room. Using cool evaporation and plugging in an aromatherapy electric diffuser are two of the most popular methods. Evaporation Since the days of the Egyptians the technique of using cool air to carry the fragrance of an essential oil has been around and it may have even been used earlier. All you have to do for this technique is fill a shallow stone, wood or metal bowl with fifteen to twenty drops of your favorite essential oil blend. Sniff the air after letting it sit. For use in your car as air fresheners you can also use wood discs impregnated with oils. Placing a thin metal bowl on a stand that sits over a votive candle is a method some products use to take advantage of heat. Aromatherapy Electric Diffuser Many aromatherapy electric diffusers look like small egg shaped, space age buildings. A cotton pad is held at the bottom of the aromatherapy electric diffuser on a small tray. Slide the tray shut and plug in the diffuser after you place about twenty drops of your favorite essential oil on the pad. To create a gentle air current a fan will begin to run to help the scent of the oil spread throughout the room in a matter of minutes. Every couple of hours you will need to add essential oil drops to the pad again. After about thirty minutes you may find that you can no longer smell the fragrance. This doesnt mean that the aromatherapy electric diffuser is no longer working. Rather the human sense of smell adapts to continuous scents and essentially begins to stop registering it. Return to the room after walking outside for a couple of deep breaths. As a result the fragrance will come back to you. If you want to fill your entire house with a fragrance then a nebulizing diffuser is the right choice. Essential oil is turned into a mist with nebulizers and then sprayed into the air by a pump. To match with dcor these diffusers come in many design and color options. If portability is a concern you can find aromatherapy electric diffusers that run on batteries. To create a cozy atmosphere many travelers will set up diffusers in their hotel rooms. Los Angeles Malpractice Attorneys

By Kent Pinkerton Given the fact that Los Angeles is home to a large number of cosmetic surgeons and clinics that offer cosmetic surgery, the chances of people gaining access to some of the best cosmetic surgeons in Los Angeles are raised. This is because given the Hollywood profile of Los Angeles, being a successful cosmetic surgeon in Los Angeles can be one of the best ways to gain prestige in the field. However, this does not mean that all cosmetic surgeons in the city are good, as there are also cosmetic surgeons that are based in Los Angeles, which may not have enough credentials to perform cosmetic surgery. As a result, there cases in which people are “injured” by the surgery due to any deformities or other health problems caused by the surgery as a direct result of the surgeon’s negligence or incompetence. Getting a malpractice lawyer For people who suffered injuries as a result of cosmetic surgery, it is very important for them to get a good malpractice lawyer given that establishing a surgeon’s culpability, especially in elective cosmetic procedures can be a complicated process. The good news is that getting a good lawyer can be a fairly simple process, as long as the necessary steps are taken that can help a person assess the capabilities of a lawyer. Among these steps, one of the most important is to ask a lawyer some very important questions, which includes asking him about his experience about these kinds of cases. As a rule of thumb, the more experienced a lawyer is with malpractice cases, the better. Another important question to ask is whether he belongs to a law firm or if he is a solo practitioner, as this can determine the type of service that people can get from the lawyer. Another very important question is how much their case is worth with regards to the compensation they could potentially receive if they win the case. It would be a good idea to get a lawyer who is more prudent in his estimates, because lawyers who promise their clients very large amounts may only have the retainer fee in mind. For people are injured during cosmetic surgery procedures, it is very important to get a good malpractice lawyer. The good news is that doing so can be an easy process. This is because the people who take the necessary steps that can help them assess a lawyer’s capabilities, which includes asking lawyers questions about their practice, often get the best lawyers who can help them get the justice and compensation they deserve. Skin Moisturizers For A Glowing Face

By Paul Cris If you want to maintain a glowing and fresh face, your skin must be consistently moisturized. It is only possible if the rate of humidity on the skin is stable. There are fewer chances of developing a wrinkled face if the skin is moisturized and hence you will always appear younger. The water content from the body flows towards the upper crust of the skin through a process called Tran epidermal water loss. If the water content in the body is adequate then your skin is always likely to remain supple and fragile. But if the quantity of water present in your body is scarce, then your skin grows arid and weak, as it does not get the required moisture. In order to keep your skin relatively moisturized you need to consume maximum liquids, like drinking at least 6 glass of water per day or eat enough of fruits and ripe vegetables that contain watery substances. The moisture that is formed neutralizes the excess oily or dry conditions in the body. Apart from that it is also important to cleanse the skin with water in order to moisturize the skins surface. Additional nourishment is required for older people. Moisturizers are available in the market in various forms or mixtures such as vegetable glycerin, rose water, jojoba oil, vitamin E oils, sorbitol (derived from plants), honey, aloe vera, and iris. Aloe Vera and mineral oils are vital in opening the clogged pores in the skin and thereby reducing the extent of acne. They prevent the skin from drying due to the external factors like sun, wind, and climatic odds. Aloe Vera is widely used for skin irritations, cuts and abrasions caused, sunburns etc. Mineral oils remove the waste materials present in the skin. As most of the moisturizers contain oily substances in them they often tend to remain on the skin after applying it. But the essentials oils have a fine molecular structure and they effectively penetrate to the inner parts of the skin. They have the property of getting instantly absorbed by the skin. The moisturizers should be mixed with accurate amount of base oil. To the maximum extent 30 ml of base oils and 6 spoons of essentials oils should be mixed to make the right formation for the skin. If you have any doubts regarding the right usage, you can preferably refer to the manuals that are available in the market. Paul has been providing answers to lots of queries through his website on a wide variety of subjects ranging from satellite phones to acne. Five Deadly Small Business Marketing Mistakes

By Rick Weaver Here are some marketing mistakes that take a heavy toll on small businesses. They have been very harmful to businesses at any stage, but especially harmful for new businesses. 1. Not having a marketing plan. Studies show that having a marketing plan equates to a 24 to 30% improvement in sales over those without a marketing plan. Writing a comprehensive marketing plan takes time, thought, and rethought, they help a business owner to focus on new products and services. A marketing plan will help someone to determine if the product or service will take too much time, energy, or resources to make it a proper addition to the existing array of products and services. 2. Executing “Hit or Miss” marketing techniques. Many entrepreneurs and small business owners buy advertising without exploring whether or not the venue is appropriate for them, or if it will appear in a place or manner that potential customers will respond to – or even see. Marketing dollars spent correctly will bring you sales. Marketing dollars spent incorrectly will not only cost you money, but will cost you your business-esteem. All marketing needs to have a “fit” with an overall initiative. They must convey a consistent message. Using advertising for name recognition is felt to be a good move by inexperienced business people. Experience dictates that success is best when even your “name recognition advertising” relates to a common theme. 3. Negative networking. Networking is one of the most important parts of marketing for the small business person. Many entrepreneurs look to groups such as Chamber of Commerces, Business Network International, and Local Business Network to build business through networking. They attend networking functions and seem to feel that the more business cards they give out, the more business they will get. They are generally disappointed and reject networking as a false prophet. Positive networking takes a different approach. Networking events are an opportunity to find synergies upon which relationships can be built. Successful networking is not how many business cards you give out, it is how many quality business cards you gather. Opportunities such as Catapult allow individuals a networking opportunity to find those synergies while learning business skills. 4. Not seeking appropriate support. Most entrepreneurs are people that have decided to leave corporate America in search of a better lifestyle with less stress. They find a great product or service and think they have it made. Unfortunately they do not have the focus and motivation they need to survive. In the corporate world they had a boss to continually set deadlines and goals, and to hold them accountable for hitting the deadlines and goals. They also had a boss to mentor and coach them. In the small business and entrepreneurial world, this important need is overlooked. People need accountability partners and/or mentors to keep them on track. 5. Inability to distinguish between being talented and being business savvy. Too many small business owners and entrepreneurs feel that having talent is sufficient to attain success. They feel that if they are good at what they do, word of mouth advertising will supply a constant stream of customers. Talent may help you find excellent investments, glean out the best mortgage rate, repair the most difficult automotive challenge, or any of numerous other potential examples. However without business savvy in the form of a marketing system, the endless stream of customers will never materialize. You must wrap a marketing program around it to encourage or solicit additional referrals. To be a success in your business, it is essential to focus on preventing these marketing mistakes. Be sure to make a plan and get the support to validate the plan and help you bring it to fruition. How to Avoid Bad Equity Loans

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Talbert_Williams]Talbert Williams The Federal Trade Commission has issued alerts to homeownersand specifically homeowners who are elderly and poorin recent months. The market is swarming with mortgage lenders providing equity loans and some of these lenders are taking advantage of the misfortune. Some lenders are giving loans to homeowners who do not generate enough income each month to repay the debt. The lenders goal is to take possession of the home once the mortgager fails to repay the debt, thus gaining equity for himself. Some lenders are encouraging homeowners by offering them a equity loan. And some borrowers have been taken for a ride because they failed to read the terms and conditions on such loan carefully. The Balloon Repayment stipulated that the homeowner will repay only the interest toward the mortgage and once the interest is paid then the homeowner will repay the principal on the mortgage. Thus, the homeowner pays for the interest all to find out he never paid a dime on the mortgage itself, and once the repayments kick in for the principal, the homeowner is at risk of losing his home if he doesnt have the cash to repay the debt. Few lenders will offer what is known as flipping loans. If a homeowner is paying $150 each month on his mortgage with low interest rates, and is offered and accepts the flipping, then he is at risk of loss, since he accepted a loan that has higher interest rates, steeper fees and costs, and interest on all the charges applied to the loan. If you are comfortable with your current mortgage arrangement, it is wise to stay put when a lender calls offering you (what appears) to be a good deal, but is probably either a scam or high-interest loan in disguise. It Begins with a Thought

By Pamela Simmons I had to go to the dentist today. Though I do love to have my teeth cleaned, this appointment was for removing and replacing a filling. This meant shots and drilling and numbness for hours and fatigue. Thoughts filled my mind while in the chair and it occurred to me that I could occupy my mind with constructive things or worry about what was happening. So I breathed deeply and did my best to relax and think in present tense of those things that I would like to be happening in my life. I remembered that what we tell ourselves and others becomes our reality, so it is important to think about what we want rather than what we do not want. I knew that thoughts and words reverberate and change the energy around us inviting what we think and say to come to us. Though I could not say anything with my mouth wide open much less while the drill was working, I could think productively. We say things to people all the time and what we say affects them. When we speak to our children, it is important to say those things we want to imprint on their minds and hearts. Here are some things that we can think and say that are important to impart. I want you. I love you. I’ll take care of you. I’ll be there for you. I love who you are. I appreciate your courage. I appreciate your creativity. I see you and hear you. You can trust your inner voice. I have confidence in you. You are special to me and I am proud of you. I give you permission to make mistakes. I give you permission to be the same as I am, or more than I am, or less than I am. I appreciate that you are unique and special. If these words were not spoken to us and we find ourselves doubting and feeling insecure, we can say them to ourselves out loud every day to reinforce what our parents would have said had they known. When people around us do not meet our emotional needs, we can still take care of ourselves by providing the information our hearts and minds need. Each of us has a little person inside that may have missed out on nurturing. Just as we want to nurture our children, we also need to nurture ourselves. No matter what adversity we face, it is easier to manage when our self talk calms and reassures us allowing the system to relax and generate more creative thinking. Whether in the dentist chair or another hot seat, words of affirmation and assurance bring us to a better state of well-being. This allows our bodies to heal better, our relationships to work better, our jobs to be more pleasant, and our daily tasks more joyful. It all begins with the thoughts that in turn lead to feelings and then the right words come out of our mouths. It is up to us to resonate our truth to others. Do we want that truth to be encouraging or discouraging, critical or affirming, hostile or enjoyable? It is in our power to make every moment one of potential and hope. Though I left the dentist chair with a little fatigue and a crooked smile, all is well because I chose to consciously observe my thinking and to create that which inspires me rather than dispirits me. Presentation Folders: Five Secrets to Creating Great Looking Folders that Get Opened

By Michael Joseph Presentation folders can be your best – or worst – marketing spend. Presentation folders that look great and get opened cannot be beat for creating a lasting impression and getting your message across. But unfortunately many presentation folders get tossed. Why? Because the folders look unprofessional, feel “cheap” in the hands or have no message that compels people to open them. Can you do better? Yes. You simply need to know a few secrets; some easy-to-use tricks of the trade. For starters, think of your presentation folders much like a direct mail piece or marketing e-mail. The mission with those marketing tools is simple: get the recipient to open up your message. Presentation folders take this a step further by being not only a carrier of information but a place to keep that information long-term. Here are five professionally proven secrets to keeping your presentation folders – and your message – out of the trash and in front of your audience. Secret #1: Use Lots of Color Including White Presentation folders with colored backgrounds are very popular. They don’t typically cost too much more and they can attract attention. Go for color if that’s what you like, but don’t forget about white. First secret? Full color backgrounds should be coated to prevent scuffing and to ensure colors don’t fade. Whatever you choose for a background, make the color work for you. How? Design pros call it “negative space.” Here are some tips for using color to your advantage: Leave lots of colored space around your logo Make your logo stand out and not look cluttered Use more colored space between lines of text Use color space that enhances your text and doesnt compete Use color and graphics that create a brand presence Secret #2: Take the “Droop” Test Hold a folder in your hand. Does it droop like an overdone noodle? That’s not the paper (stock) you want. Cheap folders make great trash can liners. Tell your printer you want 12pt coated stock. 12pt is the weight of the paper. 10pt is thinner and cheaper. Avoid it. The term “coated” means that the folder stock is slightly glossy. Gloss is good. Glossy makes colors look richer. How do you know what your printer will use? Be sure to get a sample of the stock before you order. If it doesn’t droop and it’s a bit glossy, it’s the right stock for you. Secret #3: Avoid Goofy Styles and Sizes Much like direct mail, presentation folders seem to come in a new sizes, shapes and styles every day. With the right design, you can avoid odd sizes and gimmicky shapes and get your message across. You’ll also keep your costs down. Here are standard presentation folder elements: Folded size is 9″ x 12″ The fold is right down the middle Two pockets on the inside Business card slits on at least one pocket Both pockets are printed – quality space to convey more of your message If you only need one pocket, you can utilize the space on the other side to put more information about your company or product line. Secret #4: Photo Quality Printing There have been incredible new advances in color printing. Don’t settle for what most printers call “digital” quality, look for true photo quality printing. With photo quality printing, presentation folders are printed with tiny dots of color. The smaller the dots and the closer they are together, the better the quality of your printed folder. Make sure to ask for samples that are 2400 dpi (dots per inch). Secret #5: Use Images and Copy that Say “Open Me” This is the most important secret. It’s the easiest, too. Add a catch phrase to your folders. Nothing tricky, just a few simple words like “open here,” “turn here” or “meant to be opened.” Or consider adding a simple arrow pointing to the right edge of your folder. It works. Follow these tips and you’ll be ready to create great looking presentation folders that get opened. How To Cope With Change

By Dr. Samantha Jones The only thing constant in life is change. Change can be an exciting part of ones life or it can be a daunting experience. However, changes can be manageable if you are prepared to handle them. Since change is so much a part of our lives, dont you think it is a good idea to learn how to manage it without stress? In life, you can easily recognize change. You either embrace it, or reject it. Acknowledging and accepting change already gets you a long way in accepting change. However, if you are still having difficulties in handling it, here are some suggestions that you can do: 1. Evaluate yourself and try to understand your reactions to change. Are you the type of person who resists change or are you the type who dives in and becomes excited when it comes? If you can understand how you react to change, you can interact with others better during the difficult times. 2. Transition is a part of the process of how you deal with change. It has three stages: a) endings the grieving stage of the good old days; b) the neutral zone a stage of ambiguity and not sure of the new way; and, c) new beginnings a stage when the coast is clear, and you are ready to accept the new things on the way. If you can identify which stage you are in, then you can understand better on what you need to do. It is important to be aware of this because other people might be experiencing also the same change as you have. It is always better to know you are not alone in adjusting to new things. It makes the transition better. 3. Be careful in responding to change and transition. Peoples ways are habit-forming and they often develop routines. Disruptions can be nerve-wracking and can stir up emotions mostly of the negative kind. Ask yourself questions in handling change like: a) purpose reason for the change and why the changes?; b) picture result of the change, the destination; c) plan how to get to the next stage?; and, d) part the role that you are about to play and where do you position yourself? 4. Help others. Since you know how to handle change in your life, it is time for you to help others who are the same situation and are struggling with the changes in their own lives. Furthermore, to help you sharpen your ability to handle change and to provide you with some self-help therapies, here are some ways to soothe and calm your nerves: Do some physical activities like sports and exercise. This will help release pressure from your body. Share feelings and thoughts that cause you stress. If you think your problem is something serious, you may want to ask for professional help from a counselor or psychologist. Be aware of when to ask help. Set boundaries. If you think you cannot handle the situation, do not fight it and learn to accept it until the time that you already have the capacity to change it. Always remember to take care of yourself. Never neglect what your body needs and learn to read your bodys signals. Eat well and get enough rest. Have fun. Do not overwork yourself and schedule some time for recreation. Stop and take time to smell the roses. Be a participant. Do some volunteer work in your community to help you divert your attention to something worthwhile. You can also meet new friends along the way. Try accomplishing your list of tasks. The tendency for stressed people is to forget about important tasks. List them all down so you do not forget what needs to be done. Do not play the Mr. or Ms. Right all the time. Give and take is the best setup you can find at this time. If you want to cry; cry. Crying is a healthy way of releasing pressure and stress. Relax. If you feel tired of your environment, make that escape by reading a book or creating music to bring a sense of peace and tranquility. Never attempt to do self-medication. This can cause more harm than good for you. Changes in life may leave you burned out but with a little help from yourself can make a whole lot of difference. Indulge yourself once in a while to distress yourself. Accept change and adapt. That is how people live and survive. Aromatherapy Candle: Lighten Up Your Mood

By Michael Russell Many of us depend on quick fixes for the blues. Ice Cream, a favorite movie, or hibernating in bed all day seem to get the job done. Unfortunately, the remedies we often use to help us feel better only work in the short term. And even more importantly, these quick fixes can sometimes make you feel worse than you did before you reached for that entire cheesecake! If you really want to lift your spirits – and benefit your body at the same time – consider something as simple as lighting an aromatherapy candle. There are scents that offer the right solution for just about any situation and there is also the added benefit of how aromatherapy candles leave your room smelling. If you’re thinking that this sounds too good to be true, here are some interesting facts about the results achieved with aromatherapy candles that you may not know about: Ancient Beginnings Aromatherapy candles, just like most aromatherapy products, gain their power from essential oils mixed with other natural ingredients. Essential oils come from the fragrant essence of plants. The actual oil is obtained by steam distillation, extraction or mechanical removal from the plant. Depending on the oil, the plant roots, buds, leaves, or flower petals may be used. These same essential oils have been used since ancient times in aromatherapy candles, cooking flavorings, incense, spiritual ceremonies and natural healing. Inner Joy Today, the majority of aromatherapy candles are made with hand-poured essential oils and organic soy waxes to create a candle that, when lit, can actually transport you to tranquility. Depending on what your goal is, you would choose a scent that would allow you to achieve and balance a specific mood. For example, you could use a rich lavender scent to unwind or an orange aromatherapy candle to rejuvenate you. Here are some other examples: Cinnamon: exhaustion Eucalyptus: colds, coughing Ginger: nausea Jasmine: depression, exhaustion, labor pains Rose: stress, depression Spearmint: headache, exhaustion Ylang Ylang: depression, stress, frigidity The list is endless and can assist you with whatever you may be dealing with at the time. Mood Lighting While most people recognize candles as symbols of romance, have you considered lighting an aromatherapy candle or two to enhance the mood even more? It’s a great way to excite both of your senses on all levels. Aromatherapy candles can be used to enhance a romantic dinner or they can accompany a sensual soak in the tub. Either (or both) is a great way to connect both spiritually and physically with your significant other. We all agree that candles set the mood for celebration. Lighting a candle to acknowledge a birthday, communion, or a marriage union breathes life into the moment. Aromatherapy Candle Care To make your aromatherapy candle use enjoyable and safe, keep these closing tips in mind: – The best way to burn a candle is to trim the candle wick to 1/4″. – If you burn your candle for only a few minutes at a time, the wax will create a small hole in the core of the candle and the flame will lose oxygen, causing the candle to burn poorly or not at all. – Never leave a flame unattended. – Always keep burning candles away from children and pets. – Never burn a candle in a drafty or breezy area. – Always use a candle holder and place the candle and holder on a protected, nonflammable surface. – Place your finger in front of the flame and then gently blow the flame out to prevent hot wax from splattering.
